[It's been over a month since her "dying," over a month since she's seen anything of Jasmine, and Rose thinks enough is enough. She's not mad at her sister not visiting her in the hospital. Hurt, maybe (definitely), but not mad. After everything that's happened, everything they've remembered, it's exactly how she figured Jasmine would react.
But waiting for Jasmine to come around clearly isn't working. It never has. So here she is, knocking on the door to Jasmine's place unannounced and without warning.
She just wants to check up on her honestly. If she can get that, she'll be satisfied.]
[People just keep showing up at her house for these conversations.
She'd been to see Rose, more than once, when she was still unconscious. She'd lingered outside the hospital and debated going in for minutes, or hours. Only once had Jasmine been able to actually step inside and visit, lingering for a long as she could.
But Rose doesn't know that, and she'd never tell her. With everything that happened, maybe they shouldn't have had that privilege anymore anyway.
She doesn't answer the door right away, taking a moment to lean against it and catch her breath after she looks out the peephole. She finally opens it, trying to keep her expression calm.]
[Except there's a lot that's probably wrong, potential inevitable self-destruction for not just her but their whole family included, but. It's not a conversation Rose wants today, not right now.]
I just thought I should see how you're doing. [Even now, there's something that's a bit. Hard, embarrassing maybe, about being honest and open with Jasmine when confrontation isn't involved. But if dying doesn't make her honest, what will?]
Oh. [What a stupid thing to say, and Jasmine's clearly realized that as soon as she says it.] Okay.
I'm sure you can guess how I am, honestly.
[There's no point in putting up the front of being okay when pretending is more out of reach than it ever has been. She looks Rose up and down and swallows, voice quiet.]
You look like you're doing better. [In the hospital, it had been just like clover, just as bad. It had hurt to look at.]
[That's why for as much as it hurt, she knew exactly why she hadn't seen or heard from Jasmine since.]
I'm doing fine now, so it's not something you have to beat yourself up over. [It's not her fault. She wasn't in control of herself. Maybe some of the things she said then had some truth to them, but this she's sure of. If Jasmine had been herself, she'd never do something like try to attack one of her sisters.]
